How should I wash my cotton items?
Cotton textiles can go in the washing machine! I wash mine in cold water and throw them in the dryer.
How should I wash my woolen items?
Wool should be hand washed only. Hand wash with some wool wash or with Dawn dish detergent in lukewarm water. Handle the item gently. Spin dry in your washing machine or wrap in towels to squeeze water out. Lay the item out to dry.
Can you make me something to match my decor?
I would love to talk to you about making something custom. Contact me and we can discuss! I can replicate something, I can make something in a new color scheme, or we could talk about something entirely new.
How fast can you ship?
I ship three days a week. That means I will ship your order within 1-2 days. I ship everything USPS.
What is your packaging like?
Sustainable textiles need sustainable packaging. Your items will come to you in cardboard boxes and recycled tissue paper. Stickers and tape may have minimal plastic, but I am always looking for more sustainable options. I do not add plastic bags or bubble wrap, though I can wrap in plastic if you request it.
What does “local” mean?
My ultimate goal is to make textiles that are entirely grown, milled, and woven within my local Chesapeake Fibershed. That means yarn has been grown and milled in much of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and a bit of New York. We have few local mills and they are backlogged. Small batch yarn is expensive. Each item I make will have the fiber origin listed if I know it. I will tell you where the fiber was grown, where it was milled, and how it was dyed.
What does “sustainable” mean?
Sustainability is a loaded word. For me, it means natural materials like cotton, wool, and linen. It means organic if possible, but finding fibers that are both organic and local is difficult. Local naturally dyed yarns can be found, but are expensive. I will always include information about fibers, dyes, and origins for each item I make, so you can make the best choice for you and your family.
